Quarter Finals Frenzy with Ladbrokes

Posted on | July 2, 2010

There‘s not room in the last four for both Argentina and Germany, Brazil have a ferocious opponent in Holland, and there will be at least one semi–final novice.

Holland vs Brazil
Four of the last six Brazil/Holland encounters have finished in draws, including the 1998 World Cup semi–final which Brazil won on penalties. In those six games, neither team has kept a clean sheet. Brazil were also ranked number one in the world during the last World Cup, as they are now, but went out at this stage to France.

Holland have been efficient and tidy but that is not going to be enough against this Brazil machine, which is bulldozing everything in its path.

Bet on Brazil to beat Holland at 5/6 with Ladbrokes

Uruguay vs Ghana
Uruguay are ranked 16 places above Ghana, whom they have never met, yet Ghana beat the USA in the last round, a team ranked above Uruguay. Both teams are ranked outside the top ten, and there have been six such teams in the quarter finals of the last two World Cups. Between them, they managed just two goals, and only one in regulation time.

Ghana have the whole African continent behind them – about a billion people – while Uruguay is smaller than Scotland. It‘s basic people power.

Argentina vs Germany
These two teams have met frequently, and the result is always the same: close. In the last ten meetings, neither team has won by more than one goal, and three of the last four games have ended in a draw, including their meeting at this stage in the last World Cup, which Germany won on penalties after the match finished 1–1. Since Argentina beat Germany 3–2 in the 1986 final, neither has scored three goals against the other.

These two are going to go at each other like cage fighters, and it wouldn‘t suprise me if it ends up 4–4, with a few reds for good measure.

Paraguay vs Spain Spain and Paraguay have met three times before. Spain won 3–1 in the 2002 World Cup finals, the other two finished in 0–0 draws, and this could be another low–scorer, as Spain are not the attacking force they were in 2008 and only four of Paraguay‘s last 26 games have seen more than 2.5 goals.
